Founded in 1862, the Royal Botanical Society of Belgium is a bilingual organization (French and Dutch). The society promotes botany through scientific research, publications and conferences. The Society publishes Plant Ecology and Evolution and awards several prizes for botanical research.

The members of the society, in Belgium and abroad, are teachers, students, researchers, naturalists, nature reserve managers etc. The society is open to anyone interested in botany.
